The BMW 4 series emerged in 2013 from the then BMW 3 series Coupé, which filled a gap as a zippier version of the classic sports saloon. The first 4 series quickly caused a sensation and consisted of three models: the Coupé (F32), the Convertible (F33) and the Gran Coupé with four doors (F36); sportier M4 variants were also on offer from 2014-2020 (F82 and F83 respectively). The equally successful next generation has been on the market since 2020 (G22, G23 and G26).
